Chihuahua
Overview
Chihuahuas are the smallest dogs in the world. They weigh as little as 1 kilogram and can grow much larger nowadays. Typically our genetic lines mature at 1.5kg to 3.5kg. They have large prick ears and short and pointed muzzles. There is the apple (round) and the deer (flat top) head structures. Their eyes are round and large. The dogs are slightly longer than they are tall and have a longish tail that is carried up or over the back.
There are two coat varieties. One is smooth and short. The other is long and soft with fringed ear and legs. The Chihuahua coat comes in almost any colour and pattern. Chihuahuas are considered long-lived, with a typical life expectancy of up to about 12-18 years.
Personality
Chihuahuas are excellent companion dogs. They like attention and are loyal to their owners. Even though they are considered lap dogs, they are active and like to be kept occupied. Chihuahuas are good family pets when treated respectfully, they will choose you, keep them well socialised and they will be a devoted family member forever.
The line of puppies that come into Pets Galore for homing are easy going, interactive and social. We socialise with each puppy at Pets Galore, as our pups have play times each morning and afternoon. Some will still be very choosy on who they would like to go home with, take the opportunity to sit with them and talk to us about the personality match that will work best with you and your household.
They are certainly conscious of their environment and some will be excellent at letting you know if anyone is visiting. Do let us know if you would like us to keep in contact with you as Chihuahua puppies are available.

Calvalier King Charles Spaniel
Overview
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was bred to warm the laps of humans in drafty castles or on chilly carriage rides. This need and love and connection to humans is still so very strong. A regal and sophisticated appearance, yet charmingly cute and these eyes that just pull you in.
Typically the CKCS matures at a weight of 6-9kg and a height of 30-35cm at the withers. Their face is rounded, and the muzzle full, but mildly tapered. The long, feathered ears, which are set high and wide on the crown, fan forward slightly to frame the face when they are alert. Their neck is fairly long and set atop sloping shoulders.
The chest is moderately deep and the body is compact. The tail carried gaily when in motion. The coat is long, silky and comes in four colour combinations: blenheim (red and white with a partial red mask and ears and red patches on a white body); tricolour (black and white with tan points); ruby (solid red); and black and tan. We have all the four colours available from time to time.
Personality
Happy, happy and more happy is the way to describe the world of Cavies. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an enchantingly affectionate, playful, intelligent dog that eagerly indulges its guardians with endearing devotion. They are excellent with children and their desire to interact with their guardians makes them a pleasure to have as a household companion.
Living With
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are easy going and ideal to have as a family member (any make up of a family unit) as long as human connection is available and they are fully included in the day to day activities of the family, because the Cavalier loves to cuddle, be a human companion and has been described as the perfect lap dog.
Regular weekly grooming is best, we keep a variety of brushes in store to help out with this and they will love the massage of regular grooming session.
We have two regular breeders who certainly provide puppies that portray this happiness in spades. If you would like us to let you know when the next puppies are on their way please just make contact.
Tibetan Spaniel / Tibbies / Simkhyi, Lhasa Apso's / Goompa and "Tibso's" and "Lhatan's"
Overview
Tibetan spaniels, affectionately known as "Tibbies," are a small Asian breed in the Toy group. At first glance they bear a slight resemblance to the Pekingese, to whom they're closely related, but Tibbies have a slightly longer snout with a less pronounced underbite and eyes that don't protrude as much as their Chinese cousins.
Tibetan spaniel dogs typically stand 25 to 30cm at the withers and can weigh anywhere from 4 to 7kg. They have a rounded head with wide, expressive, coffee-bean eyes, a blunt snout with a slight under-bite, and pendant ears. One of this breed's most distinctive features is a thick mane around its neck that has earned it the nickname "the little lion".
Tibbies have thick, double-coated fur of moderate length. Their tails tend to be carried high and are covered with a fringed plume of fur that usually lies curled over the dog's lower back. An interesting tidbit of Tibetan spaniel information is that this breed can come in any solid colour or any known colour pattern or combination.
Personality
Tibetan spaniels are happy, playful little companions. Watchful and alert, they make good watchdogs, although they are not prone to excessive yapping like some toy breeds.
Living With
The Tibetan spaniel dog is energetic and active, but doesn't require a lot of exercise, which makes him an excellent adaptor in any home space. He'll enjoy going on walks but be equally satisfied with play sessions chasing his favourite toys around the house. Tibbies also enjoy snuggling with their people, and they like to perch in high places, such as on the back of a sofa or chair, where they can keep an eye on things.
Tibbies don't need to have their coats trimmed, but they should be brushed a couple times a week to remove dead hair, they will also enjoy this as a massaging session. Tibbies shed twice a year, at change of season, during this time, ask for help as there is a extra tools that are great to remove the excess hair.
Health
Though generally a healthy breed, like many small breeds, Tibbies are prone to patellar luxation, a condition that causes the knee caps to occasionally dislocate. Often this is a minor issue that goes largely unnoticed, although dogs with this disorder tend to be more prone to developing arthritis later in life. If the condition is serious enough to cause your dog chronic pain, it may require corrective surgery.
Tibbies are also genetically prone to canine epilepsy and congenital deafness, as well as eye diseases like progressive retinal atrophy and retinal dysplasia. If you have a Tibbie, you should get his eyes and ears checked regularly.
